Day 3
Another day we woke up early to join a half day cooking class at
Silom Cooking School
Didnt start the day good.. our hotel tuk tuk caught up into car accident... "buang" with a Vios on our way to the BTS.. not serious just the paint from tuktuk came out. We came out too early? (8.30am) the tuk tuk driver just woke up blur blur buang the Vio's bumper ... lucky hotel's lady boss pay to settle it...
20min late for our cooking class!! Our teacher Nusi was screaming at Inho when we called to inform him about the accident :(
We arrived Nongsi BTS station and met up with teacher Nusi

We hail a cab to some hotel to pick up another two classmate and head to local wet market

Same as old Singapore wet market
The new wet market are forced to equip freezer for hygiene purpose

Nusi introduce us to different types of local ingredient - look at the yellow tau gua (bean curd) .. that is what they put in Phat-Thai (Thai fried glass noodle)

Different types of chilli

The little basket they gave us - there is some yellow ginger in it

Different type of basil leaf - Sweet and Lemon basil
Sweet basil is the one we always eat in thai cuisine.. while the lemon one is something new.. there is a strong lemon smell when i rub the leaf :-O

Going back to cooking school (teacher's private resident)
I kinda like it.. Very cozy and clean.. you feel like you are going to some friend's resident for some cooking session than enrolling yourself into a formal cooking studio... very local very thai style... dont worry the place is equip with aircon :D we didnt melt ~ :-p

Hands-on time :) The husband slicing chicken fillet

I clean up the prawns :)

While 4 other classmate clean these

Making Tamarind (Asam) juice

Asam is commonly available in Singapore
I wonder where the other classmate is going to find when they go back to Ukraine, Brisbane and Paris respectively:-S

Preparing the vegetables and herbs

Cooking Tom Yam Kung

It is not very difficult.. as long as all ingredient are prepared... fried and throw in everything.. dish can be cooking time required is only 5-10min

First dish - Tom Yam Kung!

2nd dish - Phat Thai (fried glass noodle)
Didnt turn out looking well becoz my fire too big~ i chao ta (burned) the egg... however i think it taste pretty good... better than the husband's non-chao-ta's plate :p

Nusi showing us the traditional way to steam rice

Preparing Northern Chicken Salad (Laab- Gai)
Mint with steam chicken filet

This laab-gai is a very special dish.. thai people really love rice!! they are the land of fragrant rice!! why did i say that? they even use rice powder in their salad!! See above.. this is not sesame powder.. but white glutinous rice!! dry fried it in wok until it turned brown (cooked) then grind it into powder form... and to be mixed in the salad~

To be eaten with steam glutinous rice

I chopped water chestnut and soak them into red color syrup.. red fanta canned drink will also do.. the idea is to get the chestnut color red + add little sweetness into them?

Inho chopped and chomp the green curry herbs
There~ beside was inho's smoking buddy of the class.. a Laos guy who grew up in Paris.. i think he was born there since his first language was french~ He told us he is on a 1 month traveling trip with his mum and aunt *envy*

Halfway through.. we need to smash this into cream form

Fried these ingredient, add in the green curry paste, add coconut milk.. let it boil for 3-5min

and that's my Green Curry with Chicken (Kang-Khiao-Wan-Gai)

Classmate - Very cute Korean couple who lives in Brisbane
the lady say she is very lucky because the husband is a chef.. he cooks for her.. the husband say himself very lucky because the wife is a hair dresser, she cut his hair for him :-D so sweet!

Back to our cooking station.. Boiling hot water to cook our desert

Rubies in Coconut Milk (Tub-Tim-Grob)
This 1000thb (SGD42) cooking class is really enjoyable!! we had fun cooking, knowing other tourist sharing different culture... we cooked and ate 5 dishes!!! i almost cant finish my food!! too much!!
Nusi is so nice he send us out and hail cab for us :)
P.S. he is super super rich!! i think he earn alot with these cooking class.. the whole house are full of photos of him traveling around the world (Australia, Kenya, Paris, London and many more) .. he also mention he always go for long trips like a few month~ so envy!!!
Next stop: Wat Pho the Lying Buddha

Wasn't raining but just cloudy, which is a good news for us :D

So smoky inside

The husband shouts happy! the weather is so good! no sun!!

Cabby along Wat Pho are cunning.. some tuktuk tell you 100thb to go Siam ok but they need to stop by few place... we reject.. then there is even 1 guy who try to act friendly to us.. shake our hand ask dumb question where we from where we heading to.. told us Siam center is closed on Monday to clean the floor.. WTF~ These are the few cunning Thai people we saw!!! We walked away... we closed the deal with another cab at 150thb... i know it's expensive.. but all the cab along that area know this is tourist attraction and all of them do day light robbery!!

Another gem i found in Bangkok!
Beauty Buffet.. this is like Thailand's Bodyshop or Faceshop!!
They have everything.. from make up brush, to makeup, to scrub, to lotion, to marvel gel!!!

Beauty Buffet Located at Siam Square

I bought aLOT!! spend about 2000thb here!! (SGD80) ... most of them are buy 2 at 300thb (about SGD6 each) how not to resist!!! Their's house brand marvel gel is so effective.. Tested and proven on the spot... I must be super dirty that day.. the shopkeeper asked for my hand and apply marvel gel and rub.. within min the marvel gel scrub turned dark grey -.-
Took BTS to Taksin to catch the dinner cruise.. but out of my expectation.. the information i got from Riverside Bangkok website and Google map was wrong!!! T_T too late and jam to rush there... Lucky Harmonique was only a few street away from Taksin BTS station

Harmonique - a very very famous restaurant recommended by illyqueen, the thailandfans.com and alot of others online forumn!!! This place is not as difficult to find as mention online... if you buy the thailandfans.com (hk author) book, there is a super detail map on the street location.. only 5min from Taksin BTS station.. The shop is located deeeeep in the dark alley.. maybe that's why people have difficulty finding it...
